This policy explains how TotalSafe Building Supplies, operated by TECHNO WRAPPING SYSTEMS LIMITED ("TotalSafe", "we", "us"), collects, holds, uses and shares personal information when you visit www.totalsafe.co.nz, place an order or contact us. Our contact details are at the end of this policy.

Information we collect and where it comes from

  • Contact and account details: information you provide, such as your name, email address, telephone number, billing address and delivery address.
  • Orders and payments: products ordered, quantities, order history, payment status, transaction details and information needed for delivery, returns or customer support. Payment details are processed by the payment service you select at checkout.
  • Enquiries and chat: messages, contact details, product or order references, and any other information you choose to provide through our contact form, email, telephone or online chat.
  • Website activity: browser and device information, IP address, cookie identifiers, pages and products viewed, searches and interactions with our website. Shopify and the technologies used on our website collect this information when you browse.
  • Preferences: your marketing choices and privacy preferences.

We collect information directly from you and through your use of the website. We may also receive information needed to complete or support your order from Shopify, payment providers and delivery providers, such as payment confirmation and delivery updates. If you supply another person's delivery or contact details, please make sure you are authorised to do so and let them know about this policy.

Why we use your information

We use relevant information to process orders and payments; arrange delivery or collection; send invoices and order updates; manage accounts, returns and enquiries; provide customer support; detect fraud and protect the website; understand website use and improve our services; and meet legal, tax and record-keeping obligations. You can browse without providing your name or contact details, although website activity information may still be collected. Providing information is generally voluntary, but we may be unable to complete an order, arrange delivery, verify an account or respond to an enquiry without the details needed for that purpose.

Shopify and service providers

Our online store is hosted by Shopify. Information about your visits, purchases and interactions is shared with Shopify to operate the store and provide its services. We also share relevant information with providers involved in payments, delivery, invoicing, website operation and customer support, as needed for those services. Information may also be disclosed where required or permitted by law, including to address fraud, security issues or legal claims.

Shopify Network Intelligence is enabled for our store. Shopify uses information from interactions with our store together with information from interactions with other merchants and Shopify to provide enhanced services. These can include personalisation, improving products and shopping experiences, and more relevant advertising. This processing can involve Shopify and other service providers outside New Zealand. In some jurisdictions, certain advertising uses are legally described as data "sharing" or "targeted advertising".

AI-assisted online chat

Our website offers an AI shopping assistant through Shopify Inbox. Shopify processes customer information, including the messages exchanged in chat, to produce replies and improve the Inbox agent over time. TotalSafe staff can review conversations to provide support.

You can ask general shopping questions without signing in. Signing in is required for private order information and may be required to continue a conversation with staff. Please do not put passwords, full payment-card details, identity documents or unnecessary sensitive information in chat. You can contact us by phone or through our contact page instead of using the AI assistant.

AI replies may contain mistakes. Please confirm important product, delivery or order information with our team. Chat does not replace professional advice about building design, structural suitability or installation.

Cookies, analytics and external content

Our website and Shopify use cookies and similar technologies for functions such as the shopping cart, checkout, account access, preferences, security and understanding website activity. Depending on the services used and your choices, these technologies may also support personalisation and advertising as described above.

You can manage cookies through your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may prevent parts of the store from working correctly. Where a cookie banner or privacy choices control is shown, you can use it to manage the choices offered for your region. Shopify's privacy portal provides additional choices about Shopify's advertising uses.

Embedded content, including YouTube videos, and links to external websites may allow those providers to receive device and interaction information. Their own privacy policies apply when you use their services.

Marketing choices

You can unsubscribe from marketing emails using the unsubscribe link in the message, or contact us to change your preferences. Opting out of marketing does not stop essential communications about an order, payment, delivery or service request.

Overseas processing

Information may be stored or processed outside New Zealand by Shopify and other providers supporting our services. Our Shopify store's data hosting location is currently the United States, and Shopify's international operations can involve processing in other countries. Overseas privacy laws may differ from New Zealand law. Information about Shopify's arrangements is available in its privacy policy linked above. Overseas disclosures are subject to applicable New Zealand privacy requirements.

Retention and security

We retain personal information for the purposes for which it is needed, including completing orders, providing support, handling disputes and meeting applicable legal and accounting obligations. Retention depends on the type of information and the reason it is held; an erasure request may not require us to delete records that must legally be retained.

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information against loss, unauthorised access, use or disclosure. No website, transmission method or storage system can guarantee absolute security. Please contact us promptly if you believe information connected with our store has been compromised.

Your rights and requests
